Sphaerocoris annulus belongs to Scutelleridae, the shield-backed bugs, within Hemiptera. [3]
Adults reach approximately 15 mm long. Sinuous markings cross the pronotum and scutellum, while eleven dark-outlined areas form a characteristic 5–4–2 arrangement. The pattern extends over a compact, rounded body. [2]
In Cameroon, observations recorded one generation annually, reproduction near the beginning of the dry season in November–December, and development lasting approximately 56 days. [2]
In Cameroon, Vernonia amygdalina was identified as a primary host supporting reproductive observations. Adults also occurred on arabica coffee. [1]
The Cameroon observations came from field sites at Foumbot and laboratory work at Nkolbisson. At Foumbot, approximately 1,100 m above sea level, the bug could become abundant on coffee within a landscape with distinct wet and dry seasons. [1]
