storySolomon asks for wisdom and receives knowledge of heaven and earth. The Greater Key preserves two accounts of the revelation: an angel’s visit before sleep and a blazing star among the trees.
storyThe Lansdowne introduction assigns spirits to the heavens, elements and human lives, linking their natures with names, seals, times and earthly materials.
storySolomon entrusts his knowledge to Roboam as an inheritance more precious than wealth, commanding his son to study, preserve and honour its teachings.
storyThe Key is buried with Solomon in an ivory casket. Babylonian philosophers later recover the book, but an angel must reveal the meaning of its obscure words.
storyAt the Temple altar, Solomon receives learned prayers and notes through Michael. The Lesser Key’s introductory accounts place this revelation among several books of spirits and sacred learning.
storyThe Goetia describes seventy-two spirits through their names, ranks, offices, legions and changing appearances, then gathers them into the story of Solomon’s sealed vessel.
storySolomon confines the seventy-two spirits and their legions in a vessel of brass. In Babylon, treasure-seekers break it open and release its inhabitants.
storyThe Greater Key and the Lemegeton preserve different accounts of Solomon’s wisdom, hidden writings and command over spirits. Their shared attribution brings these stories together without erasing their differences.

The French notice says that displaying the Grand Pentacle compels refractory and obstinate spirits to appear. Its prescription calls for gold and a lunar condition named “Crossant Egal de la Lune”.
The Sun’s seven yellow pentacles make authority visible through a face and repeated divine names. Later notices concern seeing spirits, concealing the bearer, swift passage and release from bonds.
The Moon’s six silver pentacles concern passage through doors and danger, nocturnal knowledge and water. A drawn gateway, four pointing hands and a rain-bearing wheel distinguish their figures.
Venus’s five green pentacles move from command of spirits to favour and attraction. Their enclosing verses give attachment the forms of a seal, fruitfulness, shared flesh and a melting heart.
Mixed colours distinguish Mercury’s five pentacles. Invocation, elusive spirits who answer questions, knowledge, embassies and opened doors give this small group several offices of communication and access.
A healing hexagram stands among Mars’s seven red pentacles, alongside war, a scorpion and the reversal of weapons. The series closes with hail and tempest.

Book III of Aubrey 24 introduces the material, form and consecration of pentacles before presenting forty-one drawings, according to McLean. Two inserted pentacles lie outside that main series.
McLean describes an eighty-two-pentacle main series in Lansdowne 1202, followed by six drawings for making spirits favourable, twelve associated with infernal spirits, another diagram and planetary figures. These groups form several divisions within the French catalogue.
McLean describes forty-nine pentacles in coloured inks in Lansdowne 1203, a witness associated with the Veritable Clavicles attributed to Abognazar. The count refers to the manuscript’s collection of drawings.
French captions in Français 25314 accompany the pentacle figures with their attributed purposes, materials and timing. On facing manuscript pages 92–93, a nine-cell grid under Mars and a portrait of the Eternal receive distinct prescriptions.
A precise locator brings an entry back to its words and image. Spirit numbers, planetary ordinals, figure numbers and manuscript folios each provide a different route through the sources.
A Goetic notice identifies a spirit by its rank, attributed office, legions and appearance. Some titles overlap, and some appearances change during the account.
The Book of Solomon follows stories drawn from Clavicula Salomonis and the Lemegeton: the king’s revelations, his hidden testament, and the vessel of imprisoned spirits.
A seal’s context is part of its identity. The cover of a vessel, the notice of a spirit and the boundary of a planetary figure give similar-looking marks different places in the Solomonic books.
Manuscript leaves, photographic facsimiles and edited plates preserve the pentacles in different forms. Their inscriptions, arrangements and accompanying explanations identify each design within its particular witness.
