The last Mercury pentacle opens closed doors and overcomes resistance to entry. Access becomes its particular office after the answers, knowledge and embassies described in the middle of the sequence. [1]
The diagram and its inscriptions
Names fill a quartered circle within a scriptural band. Mathers reads El, Ab and IHVH and identifies Psalm 24:7. [1]
Reading the design
El, Ab and IHVH occupy the divided circle. Psalm 24:7 commands gates and everlasting doors to rise for the King of Glory. The first Moon pentacle also concerns doors, but uses a drawn gateway and a different verse, Psalm 107:16. The two designs share an office while expressing it through distinct geometry and scriptural images. [1]
