Goetia 1904
Scot gives three names: Beall, Berith and Bolfry. The red soldier, red clothing, red horse and crown already appear, together with twenty-six legions, a clear subtle voice and the conversion of metals into gold. The later Goetia adds the crown’s golden colour. [2][1]
Scot promises true answers about past, present and future, then calls Berith a liar. A magical ring is associated with his appearance at a particular hour, and he bestows and confirms dignities. The account leaves promised truth and unreliable speech side by side, making the conditions of the encounter as important as the honours offered. [2][1]
