Purpose in the text
The first Venus pentacle controls Venusian spirits, particularly those whose names it contains. The following four notices develop the more specific offices of favour, desire and approach. [1]
The diagram and its inscriptions
Eight spokes with differentiated terminal characters radiate within an inscribed ring. Mathers gives Nogahiel, Acheliah, Socodiah or Socohiah, and Nangariel. [1]
Reading the design
Mathers gives Nogahiel, Acheliah, Socodiah or Socohiah, and Nangariel. The alternate Socodiah/Socohiah reading belongs to his printed note. Like the opening Mars and Jupiter wheels, this figure gathers a named planetary company before subsequent designs narrow the attributed purposes. [1]
