French captions in Français 25314 accompany the pentacle figures with their attributed purposes, materials and timing. On facing manuscript pages 92–93, a nine-cell grid under Mars and a portrait of the Eternal receive distinct prescriptions. [1]

The French caption attributes power to constrain spirits and tame earthly creatures to a pentacle representing the portrait of the Eternal.
The manuscript page arrangement
Français 25314 presents large pentacle figures beside French explanations that specify their purposes and, in some cases, materials and timing. On manuscript pages 92–93, a grid design and a human portrait stand on facing pages. Each has its own caption within the French compilation, with no Mathers planetary ordinal assigned to either. [1]
Grid and portrait
The page 92 caption places its nine-cell grid under Mars and promises invulnerability to the wearer. Thin polished iron is its prescribed medium, and the manuscript associates it with Charles V and Innsbruck. Page 93 calls its image the portrait of the Eternal and assigns command over spirits and earthly creatures. Lion skin, solar timing, a swan feather and gold or yellow colour define that second prescription. [1]
The encircling verses
The grid’s Latin rim describes dominion from sea to sea and from the river to the ends of the earth. The portrait’s rim describes the face through which all things were made and which all creatures obey. One verse encircles a grid of characters; the other encircles a human countenance. [1]
